The shot shell of choice for crows
(Preview)
This subject is one that has many different opinions. I have read time and time again that bigger is better. This is not the case. I was having a conversation the other day with a buddy that said he knew a guy that was using 3.5" #6 loads in a 10 gauge shotgun to shoot crows and his reasoning was that...

Did you see the balls on that crow!
(Preview)
I witnessed something today that goes against everything I've heard about how crows behave around birds of prey. While at the neighborhood pond fishing for panfish I was watching two crows off in the distance fly toward me from left to right. As the crows crossed the 2 acre pond side by side they elivat...

Last Day In NC
(Preview)
The North Carolina season has come to an end. Taking the last day of the season off of work is like taking your birthday off, just feels like the right thing to do. We really did not have a good place to go, so we decided to hunt a few spots that we had hunted earlier in the season. Even though we had let thes...

Are You Really Hidden?
(Preview)
Over the last few years I have read, listened to people talk, viewed other web sites and observed people commenting on hunting shy birds and how they are trying to hunt in general. Most recently I was viewing another site and this guy was describing how he was set up in a field covered in tall grass tryin...

I don't need no stinking blind... Part 1

Some may be aware that I have a youtube channel, and that I have a few short clips of myself during slow days of crow hunting.... Since I've started sharing these videos, people are always more then willing to share hunting tips with me..."you aren't hid well enough", "you'd kill mor...

Old Territory Revisited, Jan. 14, 2012
(Preview)
The group was limited today again by uncontrollable events (Funeral) so my hunting partner and I thought we would travel South to "pig farm country" to see what was cooking down there. We have not hunted this area in a couple of years because it seems that the birds only show up there afte...

Beginner Help...
(Preview)
Crow hunting here in Maine is starting on the 7th and I can't seem to become comfortable with my calling. I've been practicing but then I would see where two different guys say they are using the "comeback call" or something and each guy sounds completely different. So each guy has differen...

Hunting the Peanut fields, Feb. 10, 2012

I was so looking forward to this hunt because it was going to be over peanut fields and I was going to be hunting with my good friends Skip and Chris. Skip is one of the co-founders of the A-Team and Chris is our youngest member. Skip if anybody follows crow hunting can get it done on both ends, Calling and...

Round Two
(Preview)
After getting home Friday afternoon I was beat to say the least. A two hour round trip drive and a hard day of hunting. About 7:00 the phone rings and its one of my other A-Team partners. He said how about in the morning and I said "WHAT". Coming off my cold it would be tough. He said we have...

The Call
(Preview)
Got a call from one of the A-Team members last Wednesday and he said he could not go on Saturday but how about Friday. He said he found a flock feeding in a peanut field and he had gained permission to hunt there. I was coming off of a bad cold and this was just what I needed to get me over the hump. I picked my...

Innocent Until Proven Guilty
(Preview)
I have to be the only crow hunter in history to have been pulled out of the woods from a run and gun stand to answer to a Highway Patrolman. True story: The A-Team was in a county that we were not familar with the local highway laws and we had spotted a flock of crows feeding in a nearby field that we could pul...

Jan. 20 & 21
(Preview)
I had a chance to go for two days last week so I will combine the hunts. The A-Team was split into three groups on Friday. We all had promises to fill with people wanting to see how it is done. Friday was the day all crow hunters live for, light winds with overcast skies and 50 for a high temp. The birds cou...

Splash One Video's
(Preview)
Your video's are cool and the gilly suit seems to work. We took a guy a few years ago who wore a gilly suit and after three run and gun stands in our southern briars he left half of it in the woods so tangled he literally had to be cut out. A North and West thing for sure. I give you an "A" for putting...

Jan. 7, 2012
(Preview)
The A-Team was split this day. Family issues only allowed a few hours for two members to hunt. I headed out to our local landfill where we can always find the smallest of crows, the rain crow. They do not decoy or come to the call well, but they will come at a longer range to check you out and if you can make...

First Assault of the 2012, Jan. 6
(Preview)
It was good to gather the A-Team back together for our first assault of 2012. It was a perfect day, moderate winds and overcast skies. We only made six stands all day, Friday Jan. 6. We were lucky enough early in the morning to find a flock of birds feeding in a peanut field that was surrounded by a large...
