Some may be aware that I have a youtube channel, and that I have a few short clips of myself during slow days of crow hunting.... Since I've started sharing these videos, people are always more then willing to share hunting tips with me..."you aren't hid well enough", "you'd kill more if you had a better blind", "The crows see you", "They wouldn't flare if you hid better"
My take on this is people are so set in their ways, they can't comprehend not building a massive blind to hunt crows...after all...that's the way everyone says to do it... My response to this type of mentality is...there is more then one way to skin a cat..
SO, I decided to video what I already know, and have experienced in many hunts prior to owning a video camera..
When I'm wearing my ghillie suit I'm hid just fine. I wear my blind and carry it around on my back...
I set my camera up on a monopod then went out and stood in plain sight at the edge of my decoys to help silence the doubters... I have posted video of my "in plain sight" crow hunting results in the "blind" forum...

Did you buy your ghillie suit? I want to get one but don't wanna fork over 50 bucks for one. I can make one with some fish netting and burlap though. If you paid for yours how much was it? Doesn't look like any brands I've seen
If $50 is your cut off (which I think is very low for any prefabed ghillie) and you have the means to make a ghillie, I would suggest you make one. The ghillie I own is a cabelas RETAIL shell. Between the gloves, face mask, jacket, and pants I have about $150 dollars before tax...and that was when all that stuff was on sale.. I think it would be closer to $300 regular retail.
My ghillie suit is not made to the specs of one worn by military snipers, it was made to be fairly durable, super light weight compared to a mil. spec. ghillie, and conceal you from wild game... which I feel it does extremely well.
If you do take on the task of making your own ghillie I sure would like to see pics, and a report on how the crows like it..
He's the one who gave me the idea haha. I won't be hunting for a week or so now definitely...almost broke my arm a couple days ago when I fell off my sled. Hit a hidden lip in a field and sent me flying 35 feet..talk about ouch. Doctor said it was definitely fractured...took xrays..and it turns out my bones must be pretty strong cause nothing was broken. Still can't operate my shotgun though for probably another 4 or 5 days. Sucks

Geez man.... be careful.... stay indoors if you have too... we want a hunting report out of you... please be safe.... but...that must have been one hell of a rush.. I got hit by a car once and went all the way to the roof... I kept my eyes open the whole time....what a rush...
It was DEFINITELY a rush. Going 65mph one way horizontally to instantly 20mph vertically....haha. the sled went straight vertical and my handlebar risers hit my helmet so hard it pushed in far enough to give me a fat lip. then i faceplanted in the ground afterwards anyway making it worse haha. My body went 3 or 4 feet into the snow before stopping and my elbow pretty much speared and crumpled under me. When it happened i was 100% completely sure that when i stood up, my arm would be handing off the elbow haha. Oh well it was a lesson learned anyway. The oonly thing that made it happen was just a tiiny bit of grass right before the diversion ditch. It keeps the snow super fluffy while the entire rest of the fields are hardened from the wind. My sled sank 6 feet before the mound of dirt instead of just riding over the seemingly flat field haha.
