It was our last Saturday of the season.  Primed and ready for an all day all out assault.  Forecast was for sunny conditions with high winds.  What are you going to do, sit home on the last Saturday of the season, or go for it?  The A-Team assembles for the last Saturday of the 2012 season and launches the assault.  With all the enthusiasm we could muster, the wind got the best of us.  Wouldn't you know it; we find the birds feeding in a commercial collard/cabbage field in good numbers and we were invited to exterminate them and the wind wants to cause problems.  We set up in a field edge situation using our dead birds as decoys.  The wind did not allow us to use our decoys, unless we wanted to chase them all day.  One of the most frustrating days of the year.  We could see birds using the far end of the field that we could not call and the ones that we could call came by at MACH 1 mph over high trees that were swaying back and forth making shots very difficult.  Talking about challenging our shooting skills.  If a bird hunter ever thought that his species was a worthy adversary at evasive flight, he should get a load of ole Mr. Crow when he has the wind in his sails.  A lightning bolt would be easier to hit.  A humbling day for sure.  We stuck it out for the most part of the day and squeezed out 76 birds, which should/could have been an easy 175 day.  Our season goes out Wed. the 29th and they are calling for rain.  We very well may have to revisit this farm to clean up the remaining bandits if not a total rain out!

I like hunting in high winds some times, they are total crap for racking up numbers, but you get to see some things you dont see on "perfect" weather days.
