Crows are Turkey hunters best friends
(Preview)
On more than one occasion I have used crows to find turkeys. Every year while sitting and waiting for the three-toed-ghost to show up I notice the crows let me know when the turkey's are in the field way before I see them. Not only do they sound off the alarm but they dive bomb them as well. Never thought...

Quick Season
(Preview)
Our season started last Saturday. I was committed to go with my son-in-law on his farm for the first day to try and let him get a kill first. All went well until it came time to pull the trigger. We had four Toms 30 yards and when the smoke cleared four Toms were running off. Long day after that and we came u...

Something Special
(Preview)
This beautiful opening day of the NC Youth Turkey season I was involved in something special. I had the pleasure of guiding a special 13 year old young girl on her first turkey kill. Her father is a crow hunting buddy of mine and asked me if I would participate in helping his daughter shoot her first Tom T...

New Products for 2014 season
(Preview)
Has anybody tried the new Flextone calls? I hear they are hard to learn to use. If you have the gag syndrome from trying to use the diaphragms, I guess it is an alternative. I have a vest full of gimmicks now, another $15 for something to blow, don't think so.

Season in, Season out
(Preview)
Our NC season came in last weekend. First on the agenda was for my son-in-law to kill a Tom. We set up at first light and before the sun could come up good we had 9 jakes and 1 Tom in our decoys and the rest is history. Next on the list was for me to call a Tom in for my son to shoot with his bow. Took me two morning...

Mother Nature's Fury
(Preview)
On July 2 we had a tremendous thunder storm roll through our town. It carried 65 mph winds with hail and a lightning show that topped all July 4th fireworks that I have seen. After the storm passed a little before dark I drove around my farm to see if I had any trees down on my pasture fences. While I was o...

Tagged out and heading to Kansas
(Preview)
OK, I can not be the only turkey hunter out here! Let's see some pictures of your Toms. I took off work last week to get the job done. That is, to fill my tags (2) with good birds. Mission accomplished! I shot my first bird opening afternoon after being run out of the field at first light by the farmer pl...
