Our NC season came in last weekend. First on the agenda was for my son-in-law to kill a Tom. We set up at first light and before the sun could come up good we had 9 jakes and 1 Tom in our decoys and the rest is history. Next on the list was for me to call a Tom in for my son to shoot with his bow. Took me two mornings to get a Tom in close enough and he let the arrow fly. We got feathers, blood, bowl on the arrow but no turkey. Lots of blood but we bumped him in a bottom and he flew and that is the last we saw of him. I am sure he is dead with amount of blood he left behind but thats hunting. There will be another try another day.
With all the guide work behind me I went to work on some birds I found. Got a nice bird on Wednesday and another today. Check out my pics.
Sweeeeet... I had a chance to hit 3 jakes with my car on the way to the lake... I took a pass for all the obvious reasons... I will be in the woods next season.
