E-caller battery life

I am curious, how long with your e-caller run on a charge and what kind of caller is it?  One of the principal reasons I have stuck with the J/S cassette callers is their long battery life and rechargable sealed lead acid battery system.  Although the SLA battery is the majority of the unit's weight, it pays off by giving 12 to 15 hours (sometimes more) of run time in the field. to me when you run a digi caller off an SLA battery the weight increases to about the same as the old cassette callers negating that advantage.

I use a FOXPRO FURY... it runs of 8 AA batteries.. if I use costco/Sam's Club batteries in it I get about 10 hours non stop at full blast with the rear speaker turned off.. if I use one addition external 12watt speaker that time is cut in half.. and if I run two external 12watt speakers I get about 4 hours...

Normally I don't use Ni-Cad batteries because I like Ni-MH rechargable batteries.. I have 3 full sets... a "FoxPro", Energizer, and one other brand I can't think of  ALL are 2,500 mAh ... I can run one set with two external 12watt speakers at full volume for about 12 hours....

I have recently acquired an old hard case for a 1980s VHS camcorder... I'm going to convert the hard case so my FURY fits inside it and add 2 25watt horn speakers to the lid so it would essentially be a snowcrowpro.. with a sealed 12v lead acid battery and a motorcycle stereo amp plugged into the fury's Aux port I'm sure I will be able to make my ears bleed... and drop crows out of the sky from 200 yards. No 6 shot needed.. just cause them cerebral hemorrhaging.biggrin

I experience the same results as splash using the Foxpro energizers. I usually run just the one speaker and can get all day with no problems. The Ni-MH rechargables seem to work very well. I have used regular energizer Max batteries with good results but can not trust them longer than 10 hours.

I'm ordering a Primos Alpha Dogg from the states next week all being well. They are hard on batteries if you keep the volume high, but should be okay on medium volume.
It is 25 watt per channel, with two channels stereo and one speaker left, one right, and another in the middle. The two outer speakers can be swivel from front to side, or anywhere in between seperately.
Also it has a nice remote control, and can store 1,000 sounds too. Its also able to play two sounds at the same time.

That's great but I have found there are only about 3 or 4 crow sound recordings that are worth having.

I will have mostly for fox shooting, and that the main reason I want the bigger one with 2x25 watt as opposed to the smaller one with 1x25 watt. More power, and also three directions at once, as opposed to the single speak of the cheaper one

NH, I agree fully.  We have tried using two callers at the same time with different tunes and we can not see any difference in the birds reaction.  At the same time our music man changes the tunes about every 3-5 minutes.  It really sounds good and works.

My foxpro uses 12w speakers and I have an external 15w... I have a 6' shepherds hook I hang it on and I can call crows from at least a half mile on calm days... 25w x2 is gonna make your ears bleed... I'd like a review of the tone and clearity.

Its finally ordered froma different company (after the ****up that PayPal and eBay made of the first order) and although they haven't marked it as des patched, I would think it has been. Usually post takes 3-4 weeks from the states (china is faster at only two weeks, but they don't sell these in china).

once it arrives and we have some dry weather, I will get out to try it and will report back with a review of tonal quality, build quality, and battery life.

I have the FoxPro Spitfire that takes 4 AA's. I don't know the exact time it runs, but on new Duracells, I can take it at least three hunting days of approximately 8 hours each. Two of my buddies have the Alpha Dog and they use 8 AA's in less than 8 hours.

Lately we have been having great success running one caller on CROW PARTY and the other on CROW FIGHT.
