Are all the fish in that pond stunted or just the ones you catch? ;)

Stunted... but there are a couple big ones... last year after talking wth Gary, I started culling the ponds.. I gilled 150 shrimpy bass.. that should let a few eat better...

You should cull the shrimpy gills and sunnys too.

A cast net works great for that, right over a wad of canned tuna with holes in it.

Chummin' SD style. wink

Next thing on my list to feed the raccoons are the catfish... There are no sunnies in this pond....yet... I'm going to add some...because they are a smaller fish and will stay a viable food source for the bass a lot longer.

I do know the monster bluegills need to be culled... I have a hard time doing it because I would rather catch a one pound bluegill then a one pound bass.. and I also just found out there is a guy using this pond as his personal bait source...when it's a catch and release pond...and he's killing big gills for catfish bait...so I'm staying away from culling those until I get further info from him..

Get this Ed.... I was at the pond testing out the "Alabama Rig" and I start talking to this guy... come to find out he use to live in California... then I find he was an avid salt water fisherman...and he use to kayak fish... then to top it all off he knew who I was because he posted on the same kayak fishing forums I did years ago.... WHAT THE WHAT!.... how awesome is that...

We are gonna go fishing in the near future... he's gonna give me the low down on these monster cats he's been catching... and we are going to go fly fishing for carp...

This totally makes living away from the ocean a tiny bit easier....

Small world. Crazy how that **** happens right?

LOL

I could have sworn I saw some bigger mouthed pannies with yellow tipped fins in your video but i could be on crack... again.

You should stock shellcrackers. They keep the ponds free of snails and pond crabs really well. Bass also eat the be-jeezus outta them.

Plus Gill/Shell hybrids are very cool fish if your little eco system in that pond can make that happen.
