Have you ever noticed how easy it is to differentiate African Americans from all other ethnic groups? I am a member of European expert writers team and not from the USA.  No one is denying you your suffering ancestors but that is really not the point. What happened in Europe stays in Europe. These discussion groups are designed to inform and enlighten teenagers, who were not alive when all this "stuff" happened. Teaching them about the history of Blacks and racial injustice in this country is an obligation the school system has as part of its continuing educational process.
