A movie in the making?

Yesterday was a wild and confusing day for me and my hunting buddies.  One of the guys I hunt with hired a professional video photographer to come video our hunt.  It is one thing to video with your buddies with your own hand held Sony when you don't care how bad a job you do, but standing beside a $5,000 camera as big as a overnight bag full of clothes is another thing.  We started out trying to position the camera and positioning the hunter in front of him but that was a flop.  It seemed as though every bird would shy away every time he aimed the camera in the direction the birds were coming from.  We figured out that the lens was reflecting light back at the birds, so on to another field.  It took us three hours to get our act together. He has filmed professional deer hunts, boat races, football games, weddings, duck hunts , but all have been in an open environment, never a crow hunt in thick NC woods with our briars and pine trees.  So his learning curve was as difficult as ours.  Finally I just told the guy we were going to hunt as usual and for him to hide the best he can and get some footage. One thing that surprised me was that he only got 1.5 hours of footage all day.  My legs and back after 8 hours of standing, calling and shooting sure felt like more than that.  Goes to show how much I know about professional filming?  I have to admit I was nervous every time he would come stand with me, between thinking you are on stage in a crow calling contest and a shooting competition at the same time, who knows how I did.  I think I held my own in both categories but we shall see, the tape doesn't lie.  I sure hope he is a good edit person and can bleep out my "damns",(I tend to slip a little when I miss), I hate missing those bandits. We are all Christians and we try to keep it clean, but a crow will bring out the worst in a man, Ha!  The other two guys (my buddies) held their own as well, one of which paid for all of this and many thanks to him.  He is a rookie in the sport and it has been my pleasure to pass along my knowledge to him as he learns.  He comes from a duck hunting background and wants to shoot a little far at times but we are working on that as well as his mouth calling.  Two seasons ought to do it.  After lunch we turned it on and got into them pretty good on two different farms.  Ended up with 189 dead ones.  Can't wait to see the results, probably will be classified as comedyhmm

Oh Gary I feel your pain. Well I don't consider myself a pro in any of my adventures I always try to put my best foot forward. Lately it seems that every time I can make it out for a hunting adventure my buddies are busy so I end up trying to film, shoot, call all by myself. Went out yesterday to one of my favorite crow spots hauling out my 3 cameras, decoys, caller, gun, shells, etc. etc. etc. Hauled all my stuff out through 2ft snow. It was 4 degrees with 25 mph winds but I had to give it a go because my passion for this runs that deep. Needless to say it did not go well. the cold sucked the life out of me and the cameras very quickly. got 2 had lots of oppurtunitty at shots but would have done alot better if I would have just hunted but I truly enjoy showing other people what a great time the outdoors can be. Escpecially young people!!! Can't wait to see the footage you guys shot. if you can't put it on here, I hope you can at least put up a link when it is out!

Great days yesterday and today with great friends.  New to the forum and to crow hunting.  Our group shot a lot of birds each day.  Awesome sport and truly amazing what it takes to kill them.  I have an opportunity to learn from the best each hunt.  The video should be entertaining.

As you all know from past postings through the years I am not the best tech guy out here. I am busy killing birds and take very few pictures. The only thing I am good at running is my mouth, HA! Maybe with help I can put at least a clip on the site for everyone to critique. I'm sure it will not be up to Bob A's standards but a start for sure.
