Watchem Fall is spot on about gun of choice. I personally shot a 20 ga. 425 Browning O/U. It to has changeable choke tubes. I like the 20 ga. because it is lighter than a 12 and if you shoot alot it is easier on the shoulder. As Watchem said a 12 ga. auto is probably the hunters choice and I agree that a 26" barrel is the one to have. One great thing about a 12 is, for the money spent it is the most versital gun you can have. Think about it! It covers from A to Z, you can hunt from fur to feathers in all catagories, not to rule out our buddies, the crows.
im def leaning toward 12 gauge, would u guys get an auto or o/u....barrel length?.....choke?
any help would be appreciated

First I'd like to say WELCOME to the site.. thank you for joining in..
Now, are you looking to use this shotgun soley for dove? If so I'd have to ask what price point you are looking at, what kind of dove hunting do you have around you, are you ever going to go to Argentina?
When I hunted dove in California the birds were thick so I often used the third shell in my Remington 870 (which I've used to kill thousands of dove). I live in Texas now and the area I dove hunt does not have a lot of birds. The doves trickle in one or two at a time and I find that if I have missed with the first and second shot, the third is just a waste of money.
So, if you are looking for a dedicated dove gun, and the dove trickle in at your favorite hunting spot, an O/U would be my choice.. You can have an I.C. choke for the first shot, an I.M. for the second; or the reverse if you choose a gun with a selector switch.
