I was so looking forward to this hunt because it was going to be over peanut fields and I was going to be hunting with my good friends Skip and Chris. Skip is one of the co-founders of the A-Team and Chris is our youngest member. Skip if anybody follows crow hunting can get it done on both ends, Calling and shooting. What Chris lacks in calling he makes up for in being our sound man on the e-caller and is a very good shotmaker. We made a pack on this morning to get to the field about 30 minutes earlier than our norm to get the first flight of crows off the roost coming in to feed. We did just that, but our problem was the wind picked up and was blowing away from the birds feeding pattern. Two hours later and 46 downed birds later we moved to another field. This time we had the wind right but we were hunting mid day birds and the hunting was slower. We said we would stick it out until we reached a TBC of 100 and at 3:00 we policed the area and headed home. Crows and friends, there is no better combination!
Well out Gary it is always fun to get out, but when it turns into a better than average day it is even more fun. Adapting to the site, wheather and situation is what makes the difference.

You've got that right... I haven't found anyone worth a hoot to crow hunt with out here so when I go I either go solo or I stick my father in the bushes next to me...
It's actually really relaxing to go with my father because I basically resign myself to "clean up". I give him the shots to make or break. Since my hunting area has two roosts within 12 miles I have taught him to pass any shot that isn't a sure thing.. we dont sky bust, or shoot weird angles...we give them a pass until the next hunt... or later in the day..
