We all have our favorite selection of shotguns that we use for different game. Personally I am a Browning fan. I started out at an early age shooting Remington's 1100 20 gauge, which I now own two of. After growing into my later teenage years I purchased my first 12 gauge, which was an 1100 as well. I used this gun for every kind of hunting, duck, deer, rabbit, quail, dove , squirrel and crow. I literally wore this gun out and retired it. About the time I retired it a lot of new shotguns were hitting the market and I thought I would try something different. I went out on a limb and switched brands and purchased my first over and under from Browning. It was a 20 gauge 425 sporting clay gun. I dove hunt with it today and it is still going strong. I liked the mechanics so much I purchased my first automatic Browning 12 gauge Gold Hunter and have been hooked ever since. If Browning would announce a new version I would sell my present model and purchase the new model. Last season, 2011 I purchased the new Maxus in the Duck Blind Camo pattern and it is by far the best one yet. I did venture away from Browning one season when Remington came out with their 105 model. It ejected from the bottom and it really appealed to me because I am right handed and shoot left handed, resulting in powder in the eyes quite a bit. The 105 was fantastic and a great gun, but somehow I was drawn back to the gun that fits me best.
Started with a rem model 15 pump 20 gauge. Bought a new model 1400 win. semi 12 gauge when I was 14, then like a total moron, I traded it for an 870 wingmaster 12 that was in less than good condition. Later I had 3 different 1100 remingtons, 2-12's and a 20gauge. Bought a new 870 for $125 from a guy who won it in a gun raffle and didn't want it. Then I ended up buying a new Traditions model 2100 semi 12 gauge. Used it for several years, liked it alot. Then in October last year I bought a Benelli M2 12 gauge in Realtree APG and I'm still like a little kid on Christmas morning every time I hold it. It is only 3 inch gun, I personally think 3 and 1/2's are unnessary and kick toooooo damn bad!
Started out with a H&R NEF single shot break Action 20g then on to Rem 870 in 12g. I've owned and tested a few guns over the years and the stand outs for me in no particular order Browning 625 feather in 12, Browning Silver in 12, Browning A5 Lite 12, and Winchester 1200 in 12. Browning guns fit me the best and have performed above my expectations over the years. I am down to a coin toss on the 625 and the A5 for field use.
My first shotgun was a Remington 870 express that I used exclusivly as a slug gun for the better part of 10 years. Then I was introduced to flying targets and almost 20 years later I have yet to fire a slug from any of my shotguns.. I used and abused that 870..sending thousands of rounds through it without ever replacing any of the chokes...and I could shoot the sack off a gnat at 50 yards with that thing..
I used the 870 right up until two years ago when I got a Benelli Super Black Eagle II... which I chose for it's reliability as a waterfowl gun. So far I like the gun, although there are days I swear I'm shooting blanks.
I also have a fixed IC choke, weatherby patrician II that I was given. I've owned this gun for 6 years and haven't fired it once... it's actually semi-collectable, and I paid for the paperwork on it so I'm kinda afraid to shoot it.... matter of fact the gun has never been fired...it was purchased for home defense and sat in a closet until it was given to me. What would you guys do? Shoot or don't shoot?

IMO an unused gun is a useless gun, I say shoot it or sell it to a collector for a gun you want shoot. Again this just my opinion. I have one gun I don't shoot, it is an old 32 revolver made in 1905-06. Unsafe to shoot or I'd be firing it. I lost the bid on a Maxus tonite, 75th anniversery DU(ducks unlimited). Had I won that gun, it would be in the crow blind within a week.
I was sent an email about a 3.5" DU Maxus last week for $700. Was that the one you were bidding on? What did it go for? I would have considered it but with the plug out it has trouble ejecting real light loads.
This one was local chapter Leeper, pa of th DU it was 75th anniversery edition and it went for $1575. I quit at $1350 but I don't regret it that is too much for my blood, since I dropped $1200 for my M2 in early oct. last year. It was a Browning Maxus 3.5 mossy oak duck blind camo model at the banquet.

I started out at age 15 with a Savage/Springfield 944 single shot 12ga. I saved my pennies and two years later I got an 870 Mag (still have it), many other guns have come and gone, some stayed. Chas. Daly Miruko 20 o/u, Rem Model 17 20ga, a couple of 1100's a BPS 10 and so on. Now I invest in my guns, I get to enjoy them and when I am done they are worth more than I paid. I have shot a very good number of 25 straights in trap with this 103 year old straight grip Parker double, I guess it fits.
